Raju-Rajen are the pen names of Raju Odedra and Rajan Upadhyay. In the world of entertainment and among their fans, they are widely known as Raju-Rajen.

Raju and Rajen first bonded in late 1996 while working as assistants to the renowned film, television, and stage writer, the late Shri Imtiaz Patel. Under Imtiazbhai’s mentorship, they diligently learned the intricacies of the art of writing for two and a half years. In 1999, they amicably left their positions to begin their independent journey as a writer duo.

They achieved a major breakthrough when they were brought on to write for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), produced by Asit Kumarr Modi under the banner of Neela Film Productions Pvt. Ltd. The show premiered on Sony SAB on July 28, 2008, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, TMKOC is not only the longest-running family comedy show but also one of the most beloved and talked-about programs in the Indian television industry.

As a team, Raju and Rajen have written 2,000 out of the total 4,000+ episodes of TMKOC, making them one of the most consistent and reliable writer duos in the world of television.

Besides TMKOC, Raju and Rajen have written numerous other television soaps, including Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala for Sony TV India, and the successful Gujarati stage play Gulab Gadbad Na Karto, starring popular actor Rajeev Mehta. Interestingly, despite being Gujaratis living in Mumbai and fluent in Gujarati, English, Hindi, and Marathi, Raju and Rajen have also written several entertaining and successful soaps in Kannada.
